π Christmas
Money at Christmas has a long history and a bad reputation, mostly because of how it tends to arrive. A note folded into a card is the version people remember fondly. A transfer on Christmas Eve, landing between a direct debit and a supermarket shop, is not the same thing at all.
Send a giftIt is the opposite, if you give it properly. Money is what people ask for when they are saving, when they live somewhere you have never seen, or when they are old enough to have firm opinions about everything you might otherwise buy. Guessing wrong and wrapping it is not more thoughtful, it is just more wrapping.
What makes it feel like a present is everything around it: something to open on the day, a line that sounds like you rather than a reference field, and a date attached. Write the card you would have written if there were no money in it, then put the money in.
